“I believe in the compassion and justice of Jesus Christ, I believe in the social justice of the Catholic Church,” Maria told The Washington Post.
Maria was educated by the Sisters of the Sacred Heart. “They believed in the power of young women long before anyone else seemed to,” stated Maria in California Catholic Daily. “I am the woman I am today in large part due to the fact I was educated by the nuns. So blame the nuns!”
